Recreation Re-Opening Schedule

Rec Re-Opening

City Staff has been working with Alberta Health Services and has done a full review of the Alberta Relaunch Strategy for Phase 2. With the requirements and regulations in mind, the following is our schedule for re-opening our different Recreation amenities and facilities:

June 15thSummer CampsOpening with a maximum 40 children per day, additional rules and protocols are in place.
June 15thFitness CentreFitness Centre will have 1.5- hour time slots with sign-up required ahead of time. There will be a maximum of thirty (30) patrons allowed in the fitness area for each time slot. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 6am-6pm.
June 22ndFitness CentreFitness Centre hours of operation increase to Monday-Friday, 6am-9pm, members only 9pm-10pm, and weekends 8am-8pm, members only 8pm-9pm. Users will not longer need to register a time slot. In order to access members only times, membership must be reactivated.
July 6thSummer CampsIncrease capacity to sixty (60) children per day.
July 6thSwimming LessonsFor lower levels, participants to be accompanied by a caregiver from the same household to maintain physical distancing requirements. For higher levels and older age groups, caregiver won’t be required but physical distancing requirements are in place.
July 6thLane SwimUsers will sign up for a 45-minute long scheduled time slot and utilize every other lane. Self-directed water fitness that uses the wave pool will be available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6:00am – 8:45am.
July 6thWater FitnessClasses will be held at scheduled times and will use entire pool. Aqua fitness classes will be drop-in only.
July 6thOpen SwimThere will be scheduled open swim times outside of all other programs. Participant numbers will be limited to 70 people at one time.
Sept 1stCRA Ice Surface and Walking TrackTentative date for installing ice surface based on anticipated start dates for major users and cost of building ice during summer months. Walking track will be open for use when the facility opens.


  • The hot tub, sauna and steam room will remain closed until stage 3 of Alberta’s Relaunch Plan.
  • Open gym times will start when we reach stage 3 of Alberta’s Relaunch Plan.
  • We hope to have limited fitness classes (spin) starting in July – we are waiting on availability of instructors. More information to come once we have that confirmation.
  • The indoor play centre is not accessible to the public until further notice (it is currently being used by the day care while their space is under construction).

This schedule has been created based on the City’s ability to get trained staff in place, get mechanical systems running, gather supplies and PPE, and ensure cleaning schedules can be followed. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as get prepared to re-open and deliver services again.
