Brooks – April 22 – 29, 2018 has been proclaimed as “Pitch-In Canada Week” in the City of Brooks. Pitch-In is the largest environmental improvement campaign in Canada. The campaign is dedicated to the preservation and sustainable growth of our natural ecosystems and communities.
The EcoBrooks Committee, Domino’s Pizza Brooks and the Ramada Hotel Brooks will be celebrating Pitch-In with EcoBrooks’ annual anti-littering contest aimed to help reduce littering. Classes within the City or Grasslands Regional Division No. 6 who collaborate on a “What is your classroom doing (or planning to do) to divert garbage?” video and partake in a community clean-up activity will be awarded a Domino’s pizza party for their class. There will also be one classroom, judged on creativity and effort of videos, that will win a Ramada sponsored aquaponics aquarium. The contest is aimed to educate youth about the negative effects of littering and encourage them to ‘pitch-in’ to help make our community clean and attractive.
Submissions are to be emailed to Nova Sekhon at email@example.com and will be accepted until April 29. EcoBrooks will work with participating classes to coordinate pizza parties and the winner of the aquaponics aquarium will be announced on May 16.
Pitch-In garbage bags will be made available for classes, residents or community groups who want to organize their own clean-up campaign during “Pitch-In Canada Week”.
