The City of Brooks Handibus Specialized Transit Service and the Regional Transportation Service – Brooks to Medicine Hat Pilot Project is committed to maintaining our current service promise to our ridership.
We are doing our part by ensuring we provide clean, well-sanitized vehicles and enforcing good hygiene practices amongst all our employees and partner agencies.
We will continue to work with our partner, Alberta Health Services (AHS) and follow their direction. AHS will provide direction should a further escalation require the use of Personal Protective Equipment to help protect our most at-risk customers.
However, in order to maintain these services, we are asking our ridership to answer the following questions before booking a trip:
- Do you have flu-related symptoms such as a fever or cough?
- Have you recently traveled in the last 14 days?
- Have you contacted Health Link 811 to arrange formal testing or been medically directed to quarantine yourself?
- Have you been CONFIRMED as having contracted COVID-19?
- Have you had close contact with someone who has been CONFIRMED as having the virus, or have you been exposed to the virus during any other travel or in a laboratory setting?
If you have answered "YES" to any of these questions, we recommend that you stay home or consider another mode of transportation. We are asking our ridership who have traveled recently to stop using our services for a minimum of 14 days from the date they returned home.
If you have answered "NO" to questions 2 to 5, you can continue booking your trip.
We understand this is a challenging time and we appreciate your help as the COVID-19 situation develops. Please be sure to cover your cough, wash your hands frequently and to stay home if you feel sick. You can also learn more by visiting Alberta Health Services - Emergency Management/COVID-19 and the Government of Alberta - Coronavirus Information for Albertans, which provides an opportunity to remind everyone the steps we can take to protect ourselves from the Coronavirus are the same steps we should be taking every day to protect ourselves from common illnesses, such as the cold and influenza.
