Brooks – The City of Brooks has recently launched a brand new public facing version of our Geographic Information System (GIS) for residents to utilize. This is the first time such a system has been available for City residents and with it comes public access to a wealth of information.
Residents may now access and view information about parcels of land (lot area, perimeter, legal description), civic addresses, points of interest (schools, recreation centres, parks), underground infrastructure (water lines, sewer lines, storm water catch basins, gas lines), land use zoning, plus much more.
The mapping system also gives residents access to tools to help gain basic information about parcels of land and developments. Residents can use a measuring tool (either linear or by area) to get information about building sizes or property setbacks. An aerial photo (also known as an orthophoto) is also available to help residents get a feel for where certain buildings, roads, sidewalks and trees are located.
The new Public Access GIS can be found at: http://www.brooks.ca/280/Maps
If members of the public are having trouble using the system, they can speak to members of the Planning and Development Department for assistance.
